P.S. I Love You Day
P.S. I Love You Day is a non-profit organization. Registered in New York State, the organization was created to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. The organization’s mission is to bring awareness to the issues, create a welcoming community, and provide hope to those who are struggling. To bring awareness, the organization has created an annual day of recognition on every second Friday of February. This year’s annual day takes place on Friday, February 14th. 2025 will be the 15th annual celebration for the organization! Each year, the organization creates a theme to be focused on for the annual day of recognition. This year’s theme is “A brighter tomorrow begins today”. A wonderful message that encourages individuals to find happiness in each day starting right now!
Supporting the Organization
The organization has created a website with a space to donate. Donations are accepted to help fund local scholarships, community awareness events, and the annual P.S. I Love You Day events. Many locations across Long Island have donated benches in honor of P.S. I Love You Day. These benches are located at South Oaks Northwell, Town of Babylon Town Hall, West Islip High School – Marion G Vedder School in North Babylon. The organization also creates new apparel for each year which is sold on their website.
Hauppauge High School’s Contribution
The Hauppauge High School community is also involved in recognition of this organization. The high school held P.S. I Love You Week over the course of February 10th – February 14th. The week will culminate in a school-wide assembly with Brooke DiPalma, one of the founders of the organization. Students are asked to wear purple on Friday to show their support. Hauppauge High School values being a community where students feel supported and welcomed by all.
Personal Insights
I think that is an amazing organization to bring awareness to such an important issue. The organization’s website has so much great information and opportunities for students to learn about their mission. The themes chosen for 2024 and 2025 have been my favorite messages. “Love is meant to be given” and “A brighter tomorrow begins today”. These themes portray a great message to show individuals that they are never alone.
