Overview-
The reality television show, Dancing With The Stars has been around for 33 seasons. The whole premise of the show is to get a variety of celebrities together and give each of them a pro dancer to teach them how to dance in multiple genres. While learning to do the dances correctly, they are scored by judges and voted for by home viewers. The celebrities are fighting to evade elimination and win the Mirrorball Trophy. Every year after the finale, the pros and the top 5 celebrities that made it to the end get the chance to go on tour. It is a once in a lifetime experience, not only do you get to see all the pros on the tour, but also one or two of the celebrities that were in the finale. More importantly, it shows different aspects of dancing compared to the show because the pros are more experienced and dance with each other.
Favorites-
I saw the show on Wednesday, January 29th this year and I also was lucky enough to experience it the year before. In my opinion, I enjoy when they do the group dances compared to the partnered dances. I think they are more entertaining to watch. My favorite part of the show was when they are all dancing in a synchronized way. These types of dances either convey tranquility or cheerfulness. Meaning they make you want to get up and dance with them. Also in one part of the show they brought people from the audience up to the stage, which is cool. I enjoyed when they would do skits throughout the show between dances. It felt like you were getting to better understand the pros then you do through watching the reality show. When I went to see it this time I got to see Stephen Nedoroscik, who is an Olympic Bronze Medalist in Men’s Gymnastics. I loved when they worked his gymnastic skills into the show. You could see how talented he really is and how those skills enhance his dancing. These are aspects of the shows I enjoyed, and I hope convey my feelings. I could go on and on about why I loved going to see the tour these past two years, so definitely consider giving it a chance. I highly recommend it.
Pros-
Getting to see the true talent of the pros during the tour is something that you can’t experience to the same extent as with the tour. Throughout the show tour you get to see how skilled these people really are. During the reality show DWTS the pros have to undermine their talent, so the star is the one that shines. However, during the tour, the audience gets to see why they were chosen to be a pro. The audience gets to experience firsthand how fast they can move and do complicated tricks that most people would consider impossible to accomplish in their lifetime. While these pros do it with ease, and they make it look so effortless. The fact that they can make it look so simple shows how gifted they are in the art known as dancing. I was fortunate enough to see Emma Slater, Alan Bersten, Brandon Armstrong, Britt Stewart, Daniella Karagach, Gleb Savchenko, Pasha Pashkov, Rylee Arnold, and Ezra Sosa. These aren’t even all of the pros that are at every show on the tour.
Getting tickets-
As I stated earlier, I would definitely recommend going to see the tour at some point because I would say it’s a life changing experience. As audience members you get to see more of the talents of the pros than seen on television, so it is definitely worth the money to go buy tickets if you love dancing. Also while yes, you do get to see a plethora of the pros you get to see a celebrity that you probably wouldn’t see otherwise. Besides this you get to see a different side of the celebrity because you get to see what they learned on the show regarding dancing. You watched them struggle and succeed weekly. I would say that if you buy the tickets early enough, they are fairly affordable. I had an amazing view of the stage to take videos and pictures without anything in my way. The seats that I had for the show were only $89. Now for some this might sound like a lot of money for a two hour show of dancing, but it comes with so many pros, literally. On the other hand, wait, and ticket prices can reach over $250 dollars apiece. There are also various pieces of merchandise that you can get to mark the experience, I chose a sweatshirt.
To Attend or Not to Attend… that is the question-
I have outlined my enthusiasm and multiple reasons that I think this is an experience not to be missed. Getting out to see a show, seeing celebrities, and seeing your favorite pros is a win-win situation. Whether visiting a show in Las Vegas or the Tilles Center at CW Post College, I look for opportunities to attend. The tour continues until April 6th around the country, some tour dates are still available in the Northeast. Do you think this would be an experience you might be interested in?
