Plans After Graduation
As the school year is almost halfway done, Hauppauge High School’s seniors are continuing their research about life after high school and deciding what path they will take. Students have many options for their future whether it be to go to college, find a job, or explore the world. Hauppauge High School graduation is planned for June 27th 2025. National Decision Day takes place on May 1st where students make their final decision for which college they will attend. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 61.4% of high school seniors who graduated in 2023 were enrolled in a college or university in October of that year. In this article, many high school seniors provide insight to what their goals and aspirations are for the future.
Sports Management
High school senior, Kaitlyn Weinstein, has big plans for after graduation. She plans on going to college and studying sports management. Kaitlyn says “ I plan to focus on the marketing aspect of it, and will hopefully get an internship working with professional teams such as the NHL and NFL.” She plans to achieve all the necessary degrees in order to eventually have a job working with a sports team. Kaitlyn is also currently a member of the Hauppauge Varsity Kickline. To continue her love of dance, she plans to either join a competitive team or a club team for fun.
Education
My plans for the future are to attend college and major in secondary education. I hope to also get a degree in mathematics and become a high school teacher. Since I was a little girl, I have always loved helping others and found myself being able to sympathize with others. I believe these are important skills to have to be successful in the education field. I hope to stay close to home for college and find opportunities to volunteer with children. This will allow me to gain a better understanding of working with students and get hands-on experience early on. I also plan to continue playing tennis and possibly coach younger students as well.
High school senior, Sofia Dessart, also has passionate goals for after graduation. Sofia plans to major in early childhood education. She says “Some schools that I am interested in are Cortland, Oneonta, and Oswego”. She is excited to start her college career and cannot wait to join many clubs. Sofia also plans to continue her tennis career by joining a club team.
Hauppauge High School senior, Marissa Rodriguez, plans to double major in elementary education and psychology. Marist is one of the top schools that she is interested in. Marissa says “I plan to try out and hopefully be on their dance team” to continue her passion for dancing.
Aviation
High school senior, Mary Schroeder, also has big plans for her future after graduation. Mary plans to become a pilot for a major airline. She says “One of the schools I am most interested in is Florida Tech”.
