Throughout Josh Allen’s life he really was the underdog story. He played Varsity Baseball, Volleyball, and Football. Josh Allen recorded 5269 yards, 59 Touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.
No Division 1 school called Josh about playing on a scholarship. He was a zero star recruit coming out of highschool. But Allen didn’t give up.
Allen sent emails to multiple Division 1 programs just begging them to take a chance on him. Less than half even responded. Eventually, Allen went to go play at Reedley College which is a junior college. After this in 2014 Wyoming then took a chance on Josh Allen and he shined bright. Allen then declared for the 2018 NFL Draft with other Great Quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Josh Rosen. A lot of mock drafts didn’t have him going above the guys, let alone the first round.
This didn’t discourage the Buffalo Bills, they took a chance on their 6’5 237 lbs project quarterback over Lamar Jackson and Josh Rosen at 7th overall. He is now seen as the best player out of this draft by the majority today, but it wasn’t always seen like this. Bills fans hated this move, they believed they should have drafted Josh Rosen over Allen. This didn’t age very well as Rosen got cut from the team that drafted him 10th overall after his first season.
Allen looked horrible in 2018 throwing 2000 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Everyone knows project quarterbacks with little accuracy and a great arm need time to develop, so that’s what they did. In the 2020 season he achieved a great 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He made the playoffs this season and lost in one game short of making the superbowl against Patrick Mahomes. Ever since Allen has been amazing and is now an Most Valuable Player front runner.
