Being grateful is more important than people may think. It is not just about being thankful for our family and friends, or the places we cherish, but rather a mindset that can open up a world of positivity and a more optimistic perspective of life.
For starters, you may have heard that writing three things you’re grateful for daily can be beneficial, but do you know why? According to the Greater Good in Action website, doing this as a habit can change the emotional tone of your life, energizing you with positive feelings of gratitude. Ultimately, this exercise can lead to an increase in happiness. Alongside this, writing down three things you are thankful for can help you when you need to pick me up in troubling times. This is because writing these things will remind you of past times that went well for you.
Throughout this article students and staff, including myself, will participate in this exercise. To start, Layna said she is grateful for her family, her friends, and Starbucks. Kaitlyn said “My family and friends, my home, and my dog. Emily Messana, said, “I’m grateful for my English teacher Mrs. Kaminski, I’m grateful for my mom, and I’m grateful for… being able to go to school every day.” Mary said “I’m grateful for my three dogs, Rosie, Chief, and Aurora” Lastly, Mrs Kaminski said she was grateful for her daughter Lilianna and her journalism students.
Being grateful is very beneficial to your mental health and overall view of the world. Try saying three things you’re grateful for each day and see how your mindset will shift!
