The past four years of my experience as a high schooler have been memorable and rewarding. There have been countless people and hardships that I’ve encountered since 2020 when I first began at Hauppauge High School, that have contributed to the person I am now as a graduating senior whom I will forever be thankful for moving forward in my future.
As a high-achieving student, I have always strived to do the absolute best I could in school because I prioritize the value of my education, and of course, as someone who wants to soar to new heights in my academic career, there come times that aren’t as simple as well to encounter. As an AP student, the workload and keeping up with this alongside life outside of school can be challenging to maintain a balance between the two. This was something that I struggled with throughout high school since it felt like a never-ending cycle of going to school, then clubs/activities, work, sleep, and repeat. However, this “vicious cycle” taught me to more effectively manage my time since it’s an important life skill to have especially for college. Now I embrace a multitude of different things throughout my daily schedule because new experiences bring endless possibilities of hope and opportunity for myself.
It’s most important to recognize the fantastic individuals that I have the privilege of calling my teachers, family, and friends who have stuck alongside me throughout all of high school no matter what. These special people believed in me, even when I didn’t, and they molded me into the person I am today through their kindness and devotion to bettering my high school experience. So thank you, mom, Dad, friends, and my beloved teachers (your hard work and love for your students don’t go unnoticed!) for inspiring me to keep pushing forward to success and reminding me to focus on the important things in life, which aren’t just good grades.
As extraordinary as my high school career has been, I am ecstatic about my future, especially that of beginning college in the coming months. In August I am going to attend Stony Brook University with a major in biology and a concentration in neuroscience, and I am so excited I get to explore new things and experiences in a field of science that I absolutely adore. Looking past a bachelor’s degree at Stony Brook, I hope to work towards becoming a neurology physician assistant after attending graduate school. Between the gaps of my future education, I also hope to explore the world a little more in terms of travel, maybe even with new friends I meet along the way since it is one of my life-long goals to live out.
Although I am officially saying goodbye to Hauppauge High School, I welcome the future of college and what it may bring me because it’s exciting and new for me. I will always remember the great times and laughs I’ve collected as memories from high school and carry them with me throughout my life, so once again thank you Hauppauge High School!
