The Hauppauge Boys Baseball team defeated Comsewague in the counties in a two-game play with a first game: 9-3 Loss and a second game: 14-4 Win. Due to the double-elimination bracket, the Eagles could lose a game and still come back during the winner-take-all game. By completing this game, the Eagles proudly won 14-4 to take the Suffolk County title home to Hauppauge High School.
After winning counties, the Eagles played for The Long Island County Championships against the division Avenue Dragons and won in a close 4-3 game. In Hauppauge High School history, we have never won the LIC until this year! After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Eagles put up 4 runs on 5 hits in the top of the second and kept their lead until the end of the game. The close game came down to the last out and had all viewers at Farmingdale State College at the edge of their seats! All of the players on the team played their absolute hardest and have been advertising their games on a self-managed Instagram page which can be found on Instagram @hauppauge_varsity_baseball. Follow them for more updates to come!
There is more to the road for these proud Eagle members. This Thursday, June 6th, all of the players on varsity baseball will go to Binghamton to play for the state championship where they will not only play their hardest but impress everyone in Hauppauge rooting for them. Alex Ofgang, a senior on the team is excited to have won the LICC before he could graduate. Ofgang says, “Hauppauge’s never won the LICC before but I knew with this group, it was possible and we did exactly that. Job’s not finished yet though.” Team member Max Ofgang also closely agreed.
