Sleep
Sleep is a very significant part of well-being. Depending on your age, you need anywhere from 6-10 hours of sleep to give your body adequate rest. Sleep has a major impact on both your mental and physical health. Achieving the perfect amount of sleep can improve mood, promote weight loss, and improve metabolism. Prioritizing your body’
s biological clock and sleeping in a dark environment is important.
OrganizationÂ
Organization, although challenging for many, can help you balance your workload and acquire a positive mental state. When there is a lot on your plate from sports to family responsibilities, to AP Classes, journaling and writing down everything you need to get done along with a time you plan to do it will make you significantly more productive and prevent you from being confused on where to start. The hardest part is getting started whether it be cleaning your bedroom or writing an essay and organization will help you start and also prevent you from forgetting any tasks you need to do. I do this in the notes app on my Macbook.
Meditation/Time Alone
Many people, especially those in high school, suffer from various mental health disorders and illnesses. Depression and anxiety are becoming more and more prevalent in youth today and the best way to combat this is through making time for yourself. Whether you need time alone or if you feel most comfortable with friends and family, scheduling time for you to recharge is essential. What helps with my anxiety most is meditation. Meditation does not have to be stereotypical; it could just be relaxing while you watch a calming video which I always love to do!
