Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all the teaching staff at Hauppauge High School. Teachers shape us into who we will become, and provide the resources necessary to succeed.
Mrs. Pendleton introduction
Mrs. Pendelton, a science teacher, is nothing short of exceptional! Mrs. Pendleton has been Teaching at Hauppauge for 15 years, and she currently teaches IB Environmental Systems and Societies, Science Research, and Freshmen Biology.
Mrs. Pendelton graduated from Cornell University and has lived many lives. Whether it was teaching Gym, or studying plants, she has made substantial contributions to the success of others. In addition to this, Mrs. Pendleton is very significant to the success of Hauppauge events such as pep rallies, science olympiad, and spirit weeks! Mrs Pendelton is a co-advisor of the school’s Student Council, and that is where I met her. I can always appreciate her sense of humor at meetings, and of course providing snacks. But in all seriousness, she has done so much to help. She has made posters, came up with ideas to host events, and most importantly, dedicated her time after school for us.
Mrs. Pendelton is always up to something, whether it is teaching me about the environment and our impact on the world, or running her own family business out east. Mrs. Pendleton sells meat and eggs for her local community, all while balancing her other life at work. Even currently, she is running the teacher appreciation week goody bags—being selfless in her efforts.
Miss Pendleton started teaching in 2008 at Hauppauge High School, all throughout her life. She was immersed in nature. Whether playing outside or just studying plants as she did in college, she always was driven to the science field. This is why she makes such a great teacher. She herself has so much passion for science and the environment, that she is able to emulate that in a class.
Her impact on me
From the three years that I got to know Mrs Pendleton, I can definitely say that she’ll be one of the teachers I will not forget when leaving this year. I can always count on her for making some witty joke, or just being around after student council to talk about anything, even though she has a long drive home. I loved being in her class, and her science class has taught me so much about the world and has honestly changed my outlook of it. She is so smart and always seems to know exactly what she is talking about. In addition to this, everyone I think around me is also grown to love her, especially in my IBESS Class. My table may talk a lot, but we always love to come into her class, and we know we’re gonna be doing something fun. I really appreciate her, and I think more people need to as well.
