After the match, Cooper Robinson who had a career-high of 23 kills, shared his thoughts on the team’s performance, stating, “It was a tough battle, and I’m proud of how we stuck together. Everyone contributed, and it feels great to come out on top against a quality opponent like UC Irvine.” Reflecting on his role in the comeback, Grant Sloane said, “When I came off the bench, I knew I had to help. The energy from the team and the fans fueled our comeback, and we ran plays when it mattered the most.” Robinson’s performance and impressive plays proved to be essential in their win. Grant Sloane and Zach Rama, coming off the bench, contributed significantly with 14 kills, three aces, 12 digs, and three blocks.

Merrick McHenry’s exceptional performance during the match put his name in UCLA’s record books by tying Garrett Muagututia’s school record for the most career block solos (44). McHenry who was also essential, added six kills, eight blocks, and a couple of aces. His contributions were essential to UCLA as they overcame a loss in the first set.

The match started out intense with plenty of forward changes and ties that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The first set included 10 contacts and five lead changes, which set the tone for a close game. The following sets continued with a total of 17 ties and five lead changes in the final set. The win over UC Irvine is another milestone accomplishment for the UCLA men’s volleyball team, further improving their already impressive reputation among the top teams in college volleyball.
