I am thankful for many things in my life, but instead of talking about the materialistic things in life I am grateful for–I would rather explain the intangible things in my life. I am thankful for having supportive friends, and always knowing I have someone to go to if I feel stressed, upset, or excited about something. I am also thankful for my opportunities within my education, and how everyday I constantly have the chance to make a difference, and grow my knowledge to better myself and my community. Lastly, I am thankful for being stubborn and persistent. I am a perfectionist and I like things to be laid out the way I like it (with exceptions of group corporations of course). I make sure my opinions are heard when discussions and I particularly enjoy being right, and getting high marks.
Having supportive friends is something I always wanted when I was in middle school. I used to not be able to turn to someone and tell them great news, or bad news. Now, with my group of friends, I feel comfortable to do anything with them, tell them anything, and even when conversations seem like they would be difficult, they make it easier. I am forever grateful that I have these people in my life, and they have made such a positive impact on me. Some of these girls I am friends with I hope to keep around forever, and get to live through more milestones with.
My education is something that I take pride in; getting high grades and succeeding is so validating in my academic career. Aside from the grades, just having the chance to better my knowledge is a pleasure. Some kids in other places even on Long Island do not have the IB program, but I do. I get to take challenging classes and then I get tested on how much I retain from these classes. I have the chance to take classes that I enjoy, like journalism, yearbook, and art classes to make pottery. Even when I say I don’t want to go to school or I hate school, I really do not mean it, and especially this year when applying to colleges I have become thankful for my education.
Last but not least, as an addition to my desire to reach high marks in school, I developed the tendency to be stubborn and persistent. Whenever I finish assignments, I make sure to do final checking to make sure everything is perfect. I study the night before like crazy for a quiz I know everything on. I am the person that color coats every single piece of literature and document. With all this being said, I love it and I am thankful for it. I am thankful for holding myself accountable, and making sure my voice is heard.
All in all, in life we sometimes forget about the little things, and focus on the items we have in our life. While of course I am thankful for the roof over my head, my car and such, I am thankful for the things that keep me going, the unseen.
