If you are anything like me, math does not come easily. You go to extra help, fill out the review sheets, and still to no avail. Studying for math isn’t as simple as basic memorization as it is for your other subjects. It needs to be studied differently than your other things so here is my technique.
Memorization
Okay, okay, I know I said it’s not memorization but it is a little bit. Memorizing formulas plays a big role in your success. If you know your formulas, you can at the very least get partial credit. In order to memorize formulas I rewrite them in my notes as detailed as possible. The more you write the formulas, the more committed to memory they will be, whether you realize it or not. This strategy of rewriting is an incredible way of committing strategies and formulas to your memory.
Practice Makes Perfect
Printing out blank review sheets is my favorite way to practice the style of questions that will be on the test. Even if you redo the same problems over and over and over again, it prepares you for that style of question, which will likely be on your test or quiz with different numbers.
Do Not Panic!
Panicking is literally going to make you forget all you practiced. Stay calm, skip the questions that are causing you trouble, and remember to take lots of deep breaths. Keeping a level head will help you recall all of the information you’ve been committing to memory.
