On July 18th this year the new and improved Haunted Mansion movie came out. It featured a prestigious cast, a funny and engaging storyline, and amazing graphics. It is based on the old version of this movie and the ride at Disney World/Land.
Cast
It featured Danny Devito, Owen Wilson, LaKieth Standfield, Rosario Dawson, Jared Leto, and more. Each actor was a perfect casting choice for their character and really brought life to their roles through humor and fabulous acting. While I am personally not a fan of Jared Leto, I think that he played his role of the main antagonist superbly well. My personal favorite was Owen Wilson’s character, Father Kent.
Storyline
The story goes that Ben is an engineer who invented a camera that can take pictures of ghosts. He goes to take pictures for a mother and her son who moved into a haunted house. He leaves after being supremely unhelpful but is ushered back by a ghost. From there on Ben, Gabbie, and Travis set out to find out the history of the house. They collect a group of people who also get stuck in the house. The evil hatbox ghost needs one more soul in order to be released. The group then sets about sealing him away for good, with the help of some friendly ghosts.
I really enjoyed the plot! I think some parts were a little slow, but they quickly picked back up and regained my attention. I find it difficult to sit through movies sometimes but this movie held my attention well and I understood the plot well.
I think this movie is definitely worth a watch! It’s a great movie to sit down with snacks and watch with the whole family. It’s perfectly appropriate for all ages and makes for a fun movie night.
