Learning To Trust

Learning To Trust

Having to trust people can be hard perhaps because of previous experiences. It’s easy to lose someone’s trust but regaining it is something not so easy. It’s okay not to be trusting but at the same time, you can’t always think the worst of the worst of people because you have trust issues. It can cause a lot of overthinking and it isn’t good for your mental health. There are many ways to help to be more trusting.

  • Be more honest
  • Admit when you’re wrong
  • Be vulnerable
  • Open up more
  • Don’t think negatively
  • Learn to communicate
  • Take safe emotional risks
  • Don’t try to snoop or find out things on purpose

Relationships require trust because it gives you the freedom to be yourself, unafraid to depend on the other person. It gives you the confidence and safety needed to rely on others for consolation, assurance, help, and affection. Self-sabotaging can also play a major role in not letting yourself be more trusting. You may think that when everything is good something is bound to happen so you self-sabotage before anything happens. But you have to let that go and let yourself be vulnerable.
